The Maplewood Canadian English School (MCES) was established in 2014.

However, the founder and head instructor of MCES, Wayne Nash, has over 35 years of teaching English and 33 years teaching Japanese students, and was the very first teacher for KICC (Kumano Intercultural Club) which taught many students English Conversation before closing its doors a few years ago.
